Black light for locating cat pee? An Ultraviolet Black Light for Detecting Cat Urine!? What the heck.. this actually exists. I know. I’m shocked too. But.. does it work?
So, apparently this UV light works for identifying cat urine locations, but the light has to be within a particular range (365nm to 385nm) so some of the cheaper black lights out there simply won’t react with the urine to fluoresce the ammonia crystals. Here’s a link to one that’s supposed to be in range that we might test soon. There’s a bunch of lint and stuff that will show up as white (wait.. those tv shows said this was something else..) so you’ve kind of got to do a smell test to confirm the area, mark it and then clean it with some good cleaner like an enzyme or oxy (hydrogen peroxide) based cleaner. Also weird is science shows that while the cat urine drys out the smell will become STRONGER as it sets into it’s crystalline form, semi-permanently in your carpet. (YAY /s) Some sites suggested pre-cleaning it with some dish soap warm water solution to destabilize the crystals of ammonia but I’m not sure what’s critical yet. We’re testing this. It’s a test. Testing. ECHO. ELLO VORLD.
Here’s a link to one that apparently has both frequencies or nanometers (pronounced naNOMetors) so maybe that would help? It’s suppose to have an inner ring of one frequency and an outer and inner set of LED’s of the other. Nan-Nometer. We’ll likely have to buy these and test them which will require actually getting the money to buy them AND the cat with the urine and all that so.

If your cat is peeing on your carpet or piles or clothing, please put away your piles of clothing. As for the carpet, is your cat unfixed? We suggest fixing that by either starting a cat breeding farm and putting them somewhere comfortable but acceptable for a pee-pee kitty, or getting them fixed or spayed. This is just one of those things you have to figure out as a pet owner. Even then, some cats are just friggin’ weird and like to pee on stuff. Make sure their boxes are super clean and that if you have multiple cats that you also supply multiple boxes. Try a low-scent litter. Try scooping multiple times a day. Try hugging them so hard they get it all out of their systems and then take a shower. No, even this just doesn’t solve the underlying issue. Sometimes, as Mister WeeWee would say. MAOW. WAH. And that’s just how it be.

Mystery shopper scams As the holiday season approaches, so do employment scams. Scammers advertise “mystery shopping” gigs on job boards and social media sites, or reach out to victims directly by phone, text, email or paper mailers. They may use a fake company name or impersonate real research firms and well-known retailers. They’ll make the job sound much more lucrative than it actually is and may seek money up front for training, certification or lists of shop-for-pay opportunities.
Helpful tips Honest companies won’t charge you to work for them. Never wire or send money as part of a “mystery shopping” assignment and never deposit checks into your bank account and send the money back. Go to the official business website to see if they actually use secret shoppers.
“My bank called me about fraudulent transactions.” Bank impersonation scams
Scammers may pose as a financial institution, like Capital One, to try and gain access to your account. They often use a fake caller ID that shows up as the financial institution and claim you’ve had fraudulent transactions on your account. To resolve the situation the scammer will have you make payments to reverse the fraud and protect the account. They’ll also sometimes ask for your Social Security number, government ID, or a digitally sent one-time passcode (OTP) to gain access to your account. Once they gain unauthorized access to your account, the real fraudulent transactions begin.
Helpful tips If you’re ever in doubt when speaking over the phone, hang up and call the number on the back of your card. Financial institutions will never ask you to purchase gift cards to make payments to your account. Never send money transfers or give the number on the back of a gift card to anyone you don’t know.

Scammers may use artificial intelligence or other technologies to mimic voices when impersonating a trusted individual or organization. On these calls, they often impersonate a loved one in an emergency who needs money fast, or a trusted business needing to verify sensitive information. New technology makes it increasingly difficult to tell fake video or audio clips from real ones.
Helpful tips Listen for unnatural pauses or robotic speech. Question unexpected requests for personal or financial information. Always verify the caller’s identity—often a loved one claiming to be in trouble—through a trusted source. To protect yourself, you can set up a code word with loved ones for true emergencies.

That’s right! It’s time to clean your window air conditioner. I wrote “Windows air conditioner” twice. Thankfully this is not a MS product. *phew*
If you’ve ever had a window aircon setup or even a split-system air conditioner in your house you know the possibility of it developing various undesirable growths and the smells it can produce especially in high humidity, and particularly when the compressor turns off but the fan continues to spin, releasing a damp, non-dehumidified stank into the room. Smell it yet? Yeah. It’s bad.
Now, how do you clean it? And how do you clean it safely without making the other spectrum of smells by using harsh chemicals? There’s good and bad news but lets start with a little physical and chemical science! Then for the mechanical stuff.
Mold is a physical substance that can be removed when dry. You read that correctly – the spores can be subdued and removed without chemicals if you completely remove it dryly. The issue is that this is particularly difficult to do throughly, nearly impossible in some situations such as with scroll-fans in air conditioners. The other issue is that mold is …everywhere. I mean, like, e v e r y – w h e r e. Even if you get the mold cleaned out, if you have the right conditions – like humidity and darkness – it will come back. So moving on, management.
If you want mold, add moisture. This is the one thing that makes the latent mold hiding in every room everywhere in every house in the world possible to grow. The only way to prevent mold is to prevent excess moisture. Here’s an interesting viewpoint (I say to myself)- the “Eco” setting on your A/C – the thing that turns off the fan when the compressor stops running – this may actually make things worse. When the fan stops spinning after the compressor has been working and the condenser coils are covered in moisture, it sits there in a perfect environment for growing fungi – notably mold. The best thing to do is keep the settings of your ac in such a combination to be managing the humidity in your room to lower levels, keeping the fan/ac combination settings set so that the moisture is being removed from the unit before it is turned off and the window ac unit angled aggressively enough at a degree to make sure the water leaves the unit outside.
Many modern window units don’t have drain holes outside for the water to leave. They suggest leaving water in the pan to let the fan flick water on the coils will help it to be more efficient – this may be somewhat true, slightly. The problem is now you have the water sitting in a tray collecting nasty – read up on the hospital ac units that had terrible things growing making people sick. eew. I wouldn’t trade health for efficiency, personally. So the water needs a drain.

I feel stuck in a dark underwater cave with just enough air to get through to the next week. I should never have taken out a credit card “loan” when I first lost my job but that’s now in the past. The debt unfortunately is in the present and it’s staggering, exhausting and suffocating. If I had any suggestions for someone considering a credit card two would be to always make sure you can pay off your card every month and don’t open an account unless you do not need it. It might seem strange but if you get stuck relying on credit you forget that they are making a huge percentage rate off of your struggle to pay it down. Seriously consider your other options before getting stuck in the credit trap!
